Dr. Cavallo was recruited as Director of Anatomic Pathology and as a Nephropathologist from Brown University. He is an internationally known nephropathologist. Two years after his arrival he was promoted to Vice-Chairman for Clinical Affairs. Dr. Cavallo serves on the Editorial Board of Laboratory Investigation, Kidney and American Journal of Pathology. He also reviews articles for a number of other journals in the fields of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Immunology and others. From 1991 to 1995 Dr. Cavallo served as a member of the Immunology, Virology and Pathology study sections at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Cavallo interacts closely with the Nephrology Group and regularly attends on the Autopsy Service. He also has numerous administrative responsibilities and he actively participates in the departmental teaching activities.
