TOXICOLOGY DIVISION:
Toxicology has been under the stable, able leadership of Dr. Amadeo Pesce who is internationally recognized. Dr. Pesce has been actively involved in clinical trials. Dr. Pesce has served as a co-organizer of the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry Standards of Laboratory Practice for Therapeutic Drug Monitoring. The monograph was published in 1999. Most recently, Dr. Pesce was instrumental in helping the Department of Psychiatry obtain a NIDA SPIRCAP contract for development of a monoclonal antibody against cocaine to treat that substance's abuse. He has set up mass spectrographic methods to measure cocaine and its metabolites. Dr. Pesce is the author and editor of several well recognized textbooks and has also produced a new CD ROM version of his books.[ The Web at UC | UC Home ]
