COAGULATION:Dr. Gregory Retzinger has developed model systems for studying both the operation of fibrinogen at biological interfaces and the consequences of that operation on physiologic and pathophysiologic processes. Dr. Retzinger is exploiting information derived from the study of these model systems to prepare: 1. Novel means to deliver drugs
to fibrin-rich sites
In addition, Dr. Retzinger has established collaborative ties with Patrick Tso, PhD (Fibrinogen content of rat gastrointestinal lymph before, during and after intraduodenal administration of emulsified lipid), Stephen Clarson, PhD (Role of fibrinogen in the rheumatologic pathologies associated with silicone implants), John Dedman, PhD (Anticoagulant activity of the annexins), Punkaj Desai, PhD (Fibrinogen coated vesicles for targeting paclitaxel to breast tumors), and David Melvin, MD (Blood protein - polymer interactions of circulatory prosthetics).
